From Client to Coach: Amanda’s Journey into Pilates and Beyond
When Amanda and her family moved to the Forest of Dean in 2021, they were searching for a new chapter — one surrounded by nature, space for their dogs to roam, and the kind of lifestyle that blends adventure with peace. What Amanda didn’t know at the time was that this move would also open the door to a whole new career and way of life.
Finding Pilates
Like many people, Amanda first discovered Pilates as a client. She began her sessions at Viney Hall, drawn to the way the practice helped both body and mind feel stronger, calmer, and more connected. The benefits were undeniable — improved mobility, resilience, and a sense of grounding that carried into everyday life.
What started as a personal practice soon grew into something more. Inspired by her own journey, Amanda decided to train with Viney Hall and the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI) to become a qualified Pilates teacher. Teaching had never been part of her plan, but the more she trained, the clearer it became: this was exactly where she was meant to be.
Teaching with Purpose
Amanda now brings her love for Pilates into the studio, guiding others through the same transformative process she once experienced. Her approach is rooted in empathy and encouragement, helping clients not only build strength but also reconnect with themselves in the midst of busy lives.
But her teaching journey didn’t stop there. After facing her own personal challenges, Amanda felt called to deepen her expertise. She trained with the Pink Ribbon Foundation to become a Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist, equipping her with the tools to safely and compassionately support individuals navigating life during and after breast cancer. For her, this is more than teaching — it’s about walking alongside others and offering movement as a form of healing.
Life Beyond the Studio
When she’s not teaching, Amanda fully embraces the lifestyle the Forest of Dean offers. You’ll often find her in the kitchen, cooking hearty meals for the guests at her holiday home. If not, she’s outdoors: walking through ancient woodland with her dogs or pushing her limits flying down the local mountain bike trails.
For Amanda, Pilates is no longer just something she does — it’s a way of living. It has carried her through personal milestones, inspired her career, and allowed her to help others move, heal, and thrive.
