A great 2025

A great 2025

As the year comes to an end, it’s always a good time to reflect before looking forward to the next year.

Without wishing to make everyone envious, I’m writing this sitting outside a cabin in the mountains just outside Rio de Janeiro, watching a hummingbird extract pollen from a bright orange flower! Jon and I have settled into the peace of the Atlantic rainforest after a full-on fun time in Rio for our son Ben’s wedding to Jess, born and bred in Rio. They live in Sydney.

The beginning of the year saw the wedding of our daughter Laura to fellow Forester Sam Snowden on a hill above their home in Wellington in NZ . So, as a family, we’ve been busy!

But what of Viney Hall in 2025?

We had a significant anniversary- 30 years since we opened Viney Hall! I was preparing to celebrate next year, then discovered it was actually October 1995 when we opened! Woops! We’ll celebrate in 2026!

We have continued to be busy with Physiotherapy, building on our new specialties of hand rehabilitation with Janine, Meg’s neuro physio and Parkinson’s classes (see her blog for the amazing impact of these classes!) whilst all continuing to treat people with back and neck pain, sports injuries, shoulders, knees, arthritis and post-operative joint replacement rehabilitation, and not forgetting Sarah’s Men’s and Women’s Health.

We have been lucky enough to be in the unprecedented situation of being able to take on three new first-class physiotherapists this year, all part time, and all offering their own skills, interests and expertise. Meghan Flanagan started in March, Hannah Clayton in August, and Kathy Watkins in October. All have other jobs, varied backgrounds, experience and hobbies and are settling in and building their own client fan-clubs! Watch the team page on the website for their bios to find out more in January.

Jake left to go travelling, but he’s now back, which we’re delighted about!

Pilates and Yoga classes have gone from strength to strength with  35 classes a week available for our clients at the beginning of the year. Amanda Smith qualified as a Pilates mat-work teacher and started to take classes in April and subsequently studied to teach Pilates Reformer, beginning to teach in December. Amanda followed her personal breast cancer experience by training as a specialist breast cancer exercise teacher, and these are now on offer at Viney Hall.

Veronica continues to add more qualifications to her belt and has run several very successful Sunday Restorative Yoga mornings.

Jennie is consistently busy with a full day’s clinic for acupuncture on Thursdays and Debbie has developed a strong client list for counselling on Mondays to Wednesday evenings. Hayley and Rachel have continued stirling work as massage therapists, but sadly Rachel left Viney Hall towards the end of the year, continuing her own practice from home in St. Briavels. Olga continues to run a monthly foot and ankle clinic at Viney Hall.

Ellen is highly valued for her behind-the-scenes work to keep the clinic clean.

Ingrid has efficiently lead the reception team and day to day running of Viney Hall. This is becoming more of a challenge with our increasing staff numbers and, with my frequent absences, it’s greatly appreciated!

Sarah Garland sadly left us at the end of September. Her smiling face and helpfulness of the past ten years will be greatly missed at Reception. We had a staff night out and, despite losing Sarah, all felt the positive vibes of the expanding team! Sarah is continuing to help out with some bookkeeping for a little longer.

Finding a replacement receptionist was challenging, in a good way, due to the high number of very suitable candidates. Emily joined Lyn and Jo to continue to provide the warm welcome and efficient service for which Viney Hall has become renowned.

In November several of our physios attended the conference of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, keeping up to date with developments in the physiotherapy world, and giving food for thought to add to our regular continual professional development sessions.

We held a very successful charity fashion show, having lots of fun and raising around £1000 for Breast Cancer Care.

What can we expect in 2026?

We are expecting a baby from Meghan and Luke!

We are expecting to help more clients feel better and to understand what to do to facilitate this.

And we expect to build our skills and services.

We have  a great team, feeling positive and full of ideas to help our clients make the most of their bodies ….

……..   Move Well -Feel Well- Live Well! …

… and get STRONG!

Happy New Year from us all at Viney Hall!
